GSI opens first camp office in andhra

Hyderabad: Geological Survey of India (GSI), a geo-scientific research organisation under the Ministry of Mines on Tuesday said it has opened its first Camp Office in Andhra Pradesh at the premises of Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation in Vijayawada. After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh this is GSI’s first office in the State. Ch Venkateswara Rao, Additional Director General and Head of Department, GSI Southern Region, inaugurated the Camp Office.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkateswara Rao said that the new camp office will help in maintaining better coordination with the State Government on matters related to mineral exploration. He also informed that GSI will provide the mineral data to the State. Rao further said that V L Kantha Rao, Secretary to the Ministry of Mines, Government of India has been instrumental in establishing the Camp Office in Andhra Pradesh. He also appreciated V G Venkata Reddy, Director, DMG and APMDC for his support in setting up of the office in APMDC premise.
S N Mahapatro, Dy Director General, State Unit, AP stressed upon the need for regular interactions between the GSI and State DMG on the exploration projects taken up in the State, for better coordination, technical guidance on auction of blocks and sharing of knowledge.
Dr Apurba Banerjee, Director (Technical Coordination), State Unit, Andhra Pradesh welcomed all the dignitaries. P Raja Babu, Joint Director, Directorate of Mining and Geology; D Sreenivasa Rao, Joint Director, Directorate of Mining and Geology, Andhra Pradesh; V Ravichand, DDMG, APMDC; G J S Prasad, Director, GSI; Vivek Sharma, Director, SU-AP, GSI, and other dignitaries of DMG, Andhra Pradesh and APMDC, were also present.
